OPENING RECEPTION: Young Children's Art Show

We are thrilled to invite you to the 3rd annual Week of the Young Child: Young Children’s Art Show!

The Week of the Young Child is a national celebration with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This event is made possible through an ongoing partnership between Columbia College, Tuolumne County Arts (TCA), Infant Child Enrichment Services, and the Tuolumne County Local Childcare Planning Council. We are excited to showcase the creative works of art created by our community’s youngest artists.

Each year, this collaboration with local child care programs—including family home child care, private and state-funded programs, and after-school care programs—produces artwork to highlight the message: “Childcare lets families earn while children learn.”

This year, TCA’s resident artist, Stacy Lindsey, will work with over 650 children from 18 programs across Tuolumne County. She will guide children of all ages, from birth and beyond, in an interactive, process-based project focused on the theme of “Home.” The project encourages children to explore what “home” looks like and feels like to each of them.

Reception Details: The Young Children’s Art Show's opening and closing receptions will take place on Saturday, April 12 and Saturday, March 10, respectively, from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm at the Sonora Chamber of Commerce, 47 N. Washington St. Sonora, CA. The receptions will coincide with Downtown Sonora’s 2nd Saturday Art Nights.

The art show will be on display from April 12th through May 10th and community members are welcome to stop by the Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours to view the exhibit.
