About the event
300 unique animal friends portraits are on display at the Sonora Chamber of Commerce in Critters in Color, a special exhibit showcasing student paintings of adoptable animals. Rebecca Fitzwater, teacher of the year at Columbia Elementary, has guided her K through 5th grade students in animal portraiture, resulting in an astounding number of unique and creative pieces representing local cats and dogs awaiting adoption!
Join us for a special reception on Saturday, January 10 from 5pm–8pm during 2nd Saturday Art Night!
Friends of the Animal Community, Sonora Cat Rescue, Tuolumne County Animal Control, and the Humane Society of Tuolumne County will be present at the reception to talk to the public about the good work they do in adopting and placing pets. Donations ($10.00 each) for purchase of a whimsical pet portrait will go towards supporting these fantastic local orgs.
It takes a community to care about these animals, and filling the walls of the Chamber with these portraits is a reminder of what we can accomplish together!
This show is also made possible in collaboration with Tuolumne County Arts and the Mother Lode Art Association. ✨
