For the first time since the pandemic, Tuolumne County Arts (TCA), in conjunction with Columbia College Community Education, will host a daily youth arts camp the week of June 23 through June 27, 2025. The Summer ARTS Camp, a longtime program of Tuolumne County Arts, originally began in 2004 with just 5 artists and 17 students. Over the years, this program successfully bloomed into a thriving summer staple—growing to accommodate up to 80 students at a time and running consistently every year until the pandemic in 2020.
Located at Columbia College, the Summer ARTS Camp is designed for children ages 7–12 and offers learning opportunities in music, theater, dance, and visual arts. Campers will work with professional local artists from 9:00am – 12:15pm each day, with the final day of camp culminating in an art show, dance performance, and fun picnic in the park to celebrate their hard work and creative explorations! Every morning throughout the week children will learn and work in the Willow Art building, Dogwood Theater, and Buckeye Multi-purpose rooms on the Columbia College campus. Students will be assisted by former campers turned Teen Counselors as well as other adult volunteers.
2025 Instructors —
This year’s camp will host a wide range of talented local instructors ready to share their valuable experience and knowledge with the students! Performing arts workshops will be taught by international cultural dance artist Lesly Tejero Baker as well as Mountain Youth & Community Theater (MYACT) theater coaches Cassie Miller, Marlyn Lieder, and Rebecca Fitzwater (who is also a teacher of art at Columbia Elementary School). TCA’s Artist in Residence, Stacy Lindsey, will share her talents in the visual arts, with a focus on painting, while Caralee Young and Jennifer Fletcher will teach visual arts focused on the creation of upcycled sculptures. Photography will be taught by Jeffery Luhn, and Music and Songwriting will be taught by professional musician, Keith Evans. Laurie Livingston, Tuolumne County Arts’ Executive Director, will curate the student art show to be displayed on the final day of camp.
