Arts Reach To Schools (ARTS) Program provides standards based art experiences to the students of Tuolumne County. Tuolumne County Schools and TCA have developed a partnership that works enthusiastically to bring high quality visual, literary and performing arts instruction to your schools and classrooms. TCA highlights local artists as well as keeping you informed on touring groups and events. New artists and events will be posted within an online catalog as they become available. You might already be a participant, but if you are not currently a part of this program, please contact TCA (Alicia@tuolumnecountyarts.org)
ARTS REACH TO SCHOOLS
A.I.S is a California Arts Council matching grant program designed to support high quality artists in residency in schools for use with class-time, or after school programs. For the past 4 years, a representative of TCA has written and received this grant and has placed a total of 6 artists and at least ten guest artists in 5 local schools. These residencies bring the arts to school age children and empower classroom teachers to teach the arts, while they employ local artists. The residencies last at least 12 weeks and many times much longer. TCA’s Educational Director serves as the Coordinator of the A.I.S Grant at the
Our local Poetry Out Loud is one of the best run in the state thanks to the enthusiastic response in the schools, great volunteers and donors in the community who recognize the importance of the programs’ impact. These funds provide a small stipend to the POL coach, and covers the cost of the county-level competition. Most importantly the funds guarantee that our chosen representative for the state competition will have necessary financial support to attend the competition in Sacramento, and perhaps all the way to Washington D.C.! Since 2007 over 2000 Tuolumne County high school students have participated at the school level.
Thanks to the generous support from TCA members as well as local businesses, including Front Porch Inc., Blue Mountain Minerals, Umpqua Bank and Hive-arts.org, more than 150 students have competed in the County-wide Poetry Out Loud Competition. Coordinator:

Summer ARTS Camp is a week long, arts experience for children age 7 to 12 years old. Chaired by Betsy Spring, Arts Specialist at Jamestown School and Cynthia Restivo, Theater specialist. Students, ages 13 to 22, are camp counselors and are themselves students of the arts. This is a fee-based camp and is staffed with teaching artists from all arts disciplines.
