RED CHURCH

TCA is excited to open their doors again and welcome you into the world of art and imagination. We begin by paying tribute to one of Sonora’s iconic gems…The Red Church.

Tuolumne County Arts is celebrating by offering a unique opportunity to create a painting of the Red Church at a “plein air” (outdoor painting) event.  Led by Susan Kendall, a renowned artist, known for her vibrant oil paintings, you’ll be able to enjoy generating your own portrait of this jewel of the Motherlode. Your aren’t a painter? You are welcome to come by and watch and get inspired.

The event is on June 5, at 10am downtown. It’s a distinctive occasion open to all for a minimal fee of $40 for non-TCA members, free to members. As a bonus, non-members will receive a free TCA artist membership. Meet us at our new office, 21 N. Washington St with your paint, easels and brushes. You can register when you arrive.

On Second Saturday June 12, TCA there will be a grand opening of a “Red Church Gallery Show” featuring the plein air works alongside other artists such as the extraordinary Charles Surrendorf, several talented local photographers, and additional resident artists.  All works will be for sale including prints and note cards. This show will remain in the gallery for the summer months so that visitors and locals will have an opportunity to take home their very own image of the Red Church.
